About the Chambers

Founded in 1977, 16 Wardell chambers was named after barrister Robert Wardell, one of colonial Australia's first barristers and responsible for the original division of the roles of solicitor and barrister. Located at 16th Floor, 39 Martin Place in the centre of Sydney's central business district, 16 Wardell has seven Senior Counsel. These distinguished members of the Bar lead the chambers, which includes 27 barristers and two readers.

16 Wardell has long been renowned for both its depth and breadth of legal knowledge and experience, with leaders and specialists in all areas of law. Those briefing the floor benefit from our true environment of collegiality where an open-door policy is actively encouraged and practised by members who freely share their legal expertise and discuss questions of law.
